A Midsummer Night’s Dream

We recently opened the Writers of Influence exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery and had a great time at the private view. I think it was a very exciting experience for the young people who attended (Anouchka, Sam, Alex, Matt and Kelda) having been involved in so many aspects of the preparation process. Our thanks go to the NPG, Partner Galleries, and all the staff in the Arts and Heritage team for the opportunities provided. We are particularly thankful to the Sheffield Youth Forum for making such a great selection of images and for their interpretation work.

The opening was very busy and we had speeches from the Arts and Heritage Manager Vicky De Wit, writer Philip Hoare and Youth Forum member Kelda. We had quite a big audience and the Creative and Media Diploma students really boosted visitor numbers with their marketing work and creation of a poster and flyer. It was also good to see that the young people had been able to voice their opinions on the listening posts and had contributed their ideas for installing the exhibition.
