Q. Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Caroline Krzesinska and I’m Creative Director here at Museums Sheffield. What is my role? I have a remit to look after the exhibitions and display programmes, to make sure that our marketing is absolutely spot on for those programmes, and to catch how we promote ourselves to the city and out into the UK. I have a particular role with partnerships, national, regional and local.
Q. What was your career path?
Ironically, I started as a volunteer in this very gallery, way back in the 1970s. And I learnt then about the importance of an art gallery to its city, and the kind of exhibitions and programs that can be put together to make that city really hum as a cultural hub. I then became assistant exhibitions officer over in Lancashire, and then back into West Yorkshire, in Bradford, gradually doing work around displays and exhibitions, but always around those two areas, and then marvellously I came back into Sheffield in 1999, and the Millennium Galleries was a building site, and I joined the staff when it opened, and I’ve been here ever since.
